Let’s join together as a church body and pick up the Shield of Faith and the Sword of the Spirit as we take our place on the front lines for Cross Connect in praying:
#1 That God will build the House and have His way here.
Unless the Lord builds the house, they labor in vain who build it…[PSALM 127:1, NASB]
#2 That God will keep, guard, and protect this work.
…. Unless the Lord guards the city, the watchman keeps awake in vain….[PSALM 127:1, NASB]
#3 For all who attend Cross Connect.
“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to you a spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you will know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, And what is the surpassing greatness of His power for us who believe. According to the working of the strength of His might which He brought about in Christ, ….” [EPH 1:15-23, NASB]“That He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; and that you, being rooted and grounded in love, May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height, And to know the love of Christ which surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled up to all the fulness of God…” [EPH 3:16-21, NASB]“For this reason also, since the day we heard of it, we have not ceased to pray for you to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, so that you will walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, to please Him in all respects, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; Strengthened with all power, according to His glorious might, for the attaining of all steadfastness and patience; joyously giving thanks to the Father, Who has qualified us meet to share in the inheritance of the saints in light:” [COL 1:9-12, NASB]
#4 For the lost.
1) That the blinders are off their eyes, 2) that God will send the rain to soften their hearts so they can receive, and 3) that God would send laborers into their path.
“The god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel …” [2 COR 4:4, NASB]“Therefore be patient, brethren, until the coming of the Lord. The farmer waits for the precious produce of the soil, being patient about it until it gets the early and late rains.” [JAMES 5:7, NASB]“Therefore beseech the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into His harvest.” [MATT 9:38, NASB]
#5 For those who are Connected to Cross Connect (giving, serving).
Keep and protect those He’s given to us, that we are one and not one will be lost, just as Jesus prayed in John 17:9-26. NASB
#6 For the finances of Cross Connect.
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse… and test Me now in this… If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.”[MAL 3:10, NASB]“…my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” [PHIL 4:19, NASB]“…he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully…” [2 COR 9:6, NASB]#7 For Pastor Tommy to be refreshed, renewed, restored.
In Romans 15:30-32 Paul writes: “Now I urge you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ’s and by the love of the Spirit, to strive together with me in your prayers to God for me, that I may be rescued from those who are disobedient in Judea, and that my service for Jerusalem may prove acceptable to the saints; so that I may come to you in joy by the will of God, and find refreshing rest” (21st Century NASB). His request for prayer is a model we can use to pray effectively for our pastor and other leaders. So let’s strive together in prayer for them, praying that:
Our pastor will be snatched out of the traps and snares set for him by people who have wrong motives.
The ministry will be blessed and accepted and that people will receive and hear our pastor’s heart the way he means to convey it.
Our pastor will have and will hold onto his joy in spite of everything he has to deal with in ministry.
Our pastor will have the wisdom to know what he is supposed to do in various situations he faces.
Our pastor will be refreshed, restored, recharged, rested, renewed, and rejuvenated.
What else can you do for your pastor, you ask?
